Lightning

I just realised I've never posted this shot before. This is a mosque at Jalan Duta -- my cousin Jason and I chased the storm and shot off a few images of this mosque before the rain. This was the most successful of a series of images that I took, all with the camera locked down on a tripod of course. The lightning is real, btw. Fuji S2Pro, 8secs at f/22. Posted by Picasa

Ah thanks, aquarium! And it's all natural. The only digital manipulation I did was to remove a few "long exposure hot pixels" (essentially little pixels that burn out and appear white when they shouldn't due to the relatively long exposure). The Fuji S2Pro I was using then was great for general shooting but was pretty much rubbish for long exposures due to this problem. The Nikon I'm using now doesn't have this problem because it "maps out" and removes the hotpixels automatically during long exposures.

NICE! Very spooky effect with the lightning.

Eh... I thought you said you'd never post this picture in public?

It's still your best shot ever, IMHO.

That and the Chinese opera guy having a smoke...

Oh well, since a couple of people such as you asked me about it, I thought, what the heck, I'll post it.
